for the ‘Blue-Dog’ democrats (836)
As I watch and listen
to the congressional debate in congress regarding President Obama/Speaker Pelosi’s health-care plan I am reminded of
the words of Admiral Halsey following the defeat of the Japanese fleet during the naval battle depicted in the 1942 movie
Wake Island. He said: “I don’t understand
it Commander, Admiral Yamamoto had every thing going for him.” And he did, except for two essential things, the will
of the American people as was represented by the U. S. Navy at that time – and the hand of God.
Does anyone understand why the current administration hasn’t yet adopted their proposed health-care bill? The
democrats, like Admiral Yamamoto, have everything going for them: control of both houses in congress, the White House, and
the biased media. The power structure in Washington
D.C. hasn’t been so democratic since President
Roosevelt’s administration. Yet this bill lingers – and it continues to linger. Why?
Could it be because a small well informed segment
of the media led by radio host Rush Limbaugh and Shane Hannity, TV hosts Glen Beck and Bill O’Riley, and columnists
Charles Krauthammer and George Will have moved a growing number of Americans to action as represented by the “Tea Party
Patriots?” The ‘hand of God’ element in this puzzling political war is represented by a group of 52 congressional
democrats known as the “Blue-Dog” democrats. Both the Tea Party Patriots’ and the Blue-Dog democrats have
stood up and said “enough is enough.” This legislation will not pass without these 52 Blue-Doggers who were elected
from former republican districts and are keenly aware of the Tea Party movement.
Those opposed to the “changes” now being implemented
need to “Thank God for the ‘Blue-Dog democrats.” Perhaps it’s the hand of God resting on these 52
maverick democrats at a time when the nation needs to stop, take a deep breath, and ponder what this proposed legislation
will do to America’s economy and the best health-care system in the world. Why is it the best? Because it was built
by that same spirit that built America into the freest nation in the world – the individual and the spirit that guides
his or her efforts to serve his/her fellow man. No other nation allows this eternal spirit in man or woman to function so
freely.
Destroy that spirit and you destroy America’s
health-care system and America as it has been for
the past 222 years. Had I been living under the proposed Obama/Pelosi health-care plan I would have been allowed to die 15
years ago because the cost of keeping me alive would have been too costly (the cost was huge). Doctor friends told me this
while we lived in Canada in 1994-95. It’s
even worst in Europe. Joan came home yesterday from
having her hair cut by a woman who was born and raised under the Dutch health-care system. Cora said to Joan, “Don’t
they understand what they are doing? Emulating the Canadian or European health-care system will be the biggest mistake they
have ever made.”
The Obama/Pelosi team is willing to promise anything to pass this bill just to get a foot in that health-care door.
Once in, as Canadians learned, they can do anything they want. If they pass this bill and follow the Canadian pattern the
elderly, 59 and older, will be the most vulnerable – losing the most under the proposed plan. And why did the president
not tell the public that Hawaii tried a similar
system that failed miserably, after only seven months?
While pondering our
current political situation I was reminded how other nations have fallen when the elite few subjugated the many as ‘government-kepts.’
While rereading about two ancient pre-Mayan civilizations that self-destructed under conditions similar to what America faces
today I read a passage that seems apropos to our current political conditions. It reads: “Wherefore, the Lord commandeth
you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to your awful situation, because of this secret combination
which shall be among you; … For it cometh to pass that whoso buitheth it up seeketh to over throw the freedom of all
lands, nations and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who
is the father of all lies; …”
These words caused me to ponder even
more our current “awful situation,” as some see it, and wonder if this nation could go the way of those ancient
civilizations, nations that allowed secret combinations to overthrow a free people and enslave them to a point where they
were led to total destruction.
This may be a good time for every family to read chapters 29-32 in Deuteronomy. These chapters are a powerful prophetic
reminder of what happens to a people, and nations, when they ignore the ‘Laws of God.’ Remember it was Jefferson
who said that the cornerstone of America’s
freedoms is “the Laws of Nature’s God.” Now please “Thank God for 52 ‘Blue-Dog’ democrats.”
