I remember it like it was yesterday. I was going through a very difficult time in my life. The business was struggling and I had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. For awhile, I was paralyzed with fear.

A difficult board meeting had just ended, and I looked at the stack of mail on my desk. Sitting on top of the pile was a short note from a friend that said, "Mac, you are going to love this poem. It's called The Race, and, to me, it teaches one of life's greatest lessons."

As I began to read it, I was mesmerized. The words grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go. It was an "ah-ha moment" at a time that I truly needed a "shot of inspiration." It helped give me the courage and the belief to fight through the adversity I was facing in my life.

I am honored that with the help of my friend, Michael McMillan, we were able to bring the words of D.H. Groberg to life through a beautiful gift book and short inspirational movie.
