Hello Readers and Writers!
The location for Creative Scribes Writing Group is moving!
Penwickes' co-owners Gary & Beth Tanner are changing their book shop to an on-line presence, and
we wish them the very best in their CONTINUED best-book-seller-in-the-world-efforts.
Their beautiful store, dedicated to true readers and book lovers, is evidence of how much energy they've put into providing
books of every genre for sale to their patrons. With over 10,000 books in stock and more on the way, Penwickes' success is
destined for continued success!
As you know, Penwicke's has served as a wonderful meeting place for the Creative Scribes writers group since November,
2006. With refreshments, candor, and unselfish hospitality offered by Gary and Beth, Creative Scribes writers group
has been served well by this beautiful book store. Our very best wishes to Gary and Beth for their continued
success.
And . . . just as Penwickes continues to make progress, so does Creative Scribes Writers Group. Another
example of Penwicke's care and concern for the continuation of our group, has been shown by Beth acting
as a liaison with the Creative Arts Guild to secure a new home for us! The Dalton Creative
Arts Guild has graciously stepped forward to accommodate our future meetings! So . . .
. . . as of July 10, 2007, all meetings of the Dalton Creative Scribes Writers Group will be
held at:

Today's muse comes from, "Writing Down the Bones," by Natalie Goldberg, ISBN 0-87773-375-9:
pg. 117 - "Every Monday - Every Monday last winter, my dear friend Kate and I wrote together. We
met at nine in the morning and wrote until about two or three in the afternoon. Sometimes she showed up with an idea: "Lets
write about divisions. Okay? Go for an hour." because there were only the two of us, when the writing sessions were over,
we read aloud to each other the whole of what we wrote. It was a lot, with hands moving the whole time. We tried out writing
in different cafes, once even driving an hour south to Owatonna, Minnesota, so I could show her the bank designed by Louis
Sullivan that I was in love with. We wrote in the coffee shop across the street. I was unemployed then, looking for a
job. She was on a writing grant. I tell you this because it is important. We were willing to commit ourselves to a whole day
of writing each week because writing, sharing, and friendship are important. And it happened on a Monday, the beginning of
the work week. Remember this. Remember Kate and me on Mondays when nothing in your life seems worthwhile but earning
a living and you find yourself worried about it."
The writer's question for our next meeting is, "What is one thing that you do to improve your writing?"

Associate Editor Brian A. Klems can't stop procrastinating, so he needs your help! Develop a list of five
punishments to dissuade him from procrastinating. Each punishment should be tougher than the next. For example, the first
punishment should be for the first time he puts off work. The second, for the second time. And so on.
