Advanced Fiction: Lou Aronica
Lou Aronica has earned a reputation
throughout the publishing industry for
his creative vision, his commitment to
commercial fiction and his unparalleled
passion for genre publishing. During his
tenure at three of the largest mass market
publishing houses in the country, he
launched the premier science fiction and
mystery imprints in the business and also
presided over the largest growth period in
the history of the #1 single-title romance
program. Currently President of The Fiction
Studio, Aronica’s first novel, The
Forever Year, was published in 2003 and
his second, Flash and Dazzle, will appear
in 2007.
Writers Toolbox: Vicki Hinze
Author of twenty-one novels, three nonfiction
books and hundreds of nonfiction
articles, many for international publications,
Hinze currently has an additional
three books under contract. After cocreating
the first single-title open-ended
continuity series, she turned to military
life and has been is credited with a Career
Achievement Award. Her willingness
to take risks and blaze trails has won her
many prestigious awards and nominations
Marge Smith (aka
Elizabeth Sinclair)
Co-founder of the First Coast Romance
Writers of Jacksonville, FL in 1992 Smith
has been honored with three Board of
Director’s Service Awards and the SARA
(Service Award for Romance Advancement).
She now belongs to five RWA
affiliated chapters, including Outreach
International, for which she served for
SWA 32nd Annual Conference Instructors and Classes
Georgia Press Association’s premier recognition
for her weekly column, The Focus
On and was nominated for Georgia
Author of the Year and for the Townsend
Prize for Fiction in 2000. Her poems
have appeared in a variety of magazines
and she garnered first place in poetry in
SWA’s poetry competition
in 2001.
She
was married to the now-late USAF Major
Hugh D. Alderman and, in 1985, changed
her given name to Annabel. She has a collection
of heartbreak verse under the title
of Lost Loves Don’t Count.
Humor: Darrell Huckaby
Born and raised in the North Georgia mill
village of Porterdale, Darrell Huckaby
now lives in Conyers with his wife, Lisa,
and their three children, Jamie, Jackson,
and Jenna. He teaches AP US History and
Current issues at Heritage High School
and his syndicated newspaper columns
appear in a number of papers across the
state and his What the Huck? commentary
can be heard on the Moby in the
Morning radio show every Wednesday
morning at 7:35. A proud graduate of the
University of Georgia, Huck is the author
of six books and travels extensively across
the South, speaking to church and civic
organizations as well as corporate functions.
His down home humor and unique
reflections on life in the South “the way it
was, the way it used to be, and the way it
ought to be” make him a favorite with his
readers and on the banquet circuit.
Non-Fiction: Dennis Hensley
A columnist and contributing editor for
four magazines, including Writer’s Journal,
he is the author of six novels, 39
nonfiction books, and more than 3,000
freelance newspaper and magazine articles.
He has written eight textbooks
on professional writing, including How
to Write What
You Love and Make a
Living at It , Teach Yourself Grammar
and Style in 24 Hours
, and
The
Freelance
Writer’s Handbook
. Each
year
Dr. Hensley serves as a judge for the
Christy Fiction Awards, the Gold Medallion
Awards, and the Evangelical Press
Association Awards. He is a recipient of
numerous honors, including the “Dorothy
Hamilton Memorial Writing Award.”
Dr. Hensley has been a writer in residence
or guest professor at Oxford University
and more than 60 other colleges.

Fiction: Heywood Smith
The Atlanta native now lives in Boston,
where she can be close to her son and
daughter-in-law, and precious new grandson.

appeared on both the USA Today’s list
and the New York Times Extended Bestseller

Writing for Children: Holly McClure
Holly McClure is a literary agent with
Sullivan Maxx Literary Agency. She is
also the author of four published books.
Secrets And Ghost Horses is the first
book in her Low Country Mystery Series
for Young adults. Lightning Creek is an
adult suspense thriller. Twisted Hair is
the story of a Cherokee holy man based
on stories she heard from her Cherokee
mother’s people. Her non-fiction book,
Soul Journey, is a guide for spiritual
and psychological transformation. She
holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology
and enjoys digging in the dirt in search
of knowledge of our ancestors. Holly is
a frequent speaker and writing instructor.
MapQuest for Writers:Bill Olsen
Olsen’s movies have been seen by audiences
worldwide. Olsen received a
Juror’s Citation Award at the North Carolina
Film Festival for “Southern Belles.”
Olsen produced two DVD’s for Robert
Moog, inventor of the Moog Synthesizer.
Olsen teaches screenwriting courses and
workshops across the South, and critiques
screenplays for the North Carolina Writers
Network. His first movie has been
re-released on DVD for worldwide distribution.
Olsen serves on the Board of
Directors of the Communications Dept. at
Lenoir Rhyne College.
Poetry: Annabel Alderman
Annabel Alderman was born Elsie Griner
Jr. in Nashville, Georgia and educated
in the local public schools. She now
lives and writes in her hometown. In
1999, Mercer University Press published
her first novel, Family Man. She won

up to THREE separate
Evaluation Categories.
• Submit to any or all Additional Contests
• All manuscripts must be previously unpublished.
• Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced on
white paper.
Include a cover sheet with title, author’s
name/address/phone
&category/contest.
• ONLY the title and page numbers should appear
on the
manuscript. NO author information on the manuscript.
• A minimum THREE-DAY REGISTRATION is required
to
receive a manuscript conference.
• A photocopy or printout of the registration
