Railink provides customer switching services for Barilla Pasta of America in Ames, Iowa, the Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Michigan, Bulkmatic Transport, Inc. of Chicago Heights, Illinois, and for Mittal Steel – Hennepin in Hennepin, Illinois.  Private contract switching is typically provided to a single customer with connections to a single linehaul rail carrier.  Rail switching is available to the customer on a daily or hourly basis to perform whatever rail services the customer may need.

As noted in the preceding section, Railink’s operating plans are the essence of simplicity, viz., Serve the customers.  Specifically, we provide the resources, the people, equipment, and training required to safely offer timely and cost-effective service to our customers.  Our operating programs anticipate orderly increases in equipment, people and systems to meet customer service growth needs. 

Railink switch crews provide service to four locations under the supervision of our General Manager of Railroad Operations.  In addition, contract switch crews perform routine track and roadway maintenance while not engaged in the actual switching of freight cars.  Specialty services, such as freight car repair and cleaning can be provided should the customer need those services.
