Holdings owns
and operates a construction company, Central Railgroup Construction Services, LLC (“Railgroup’), a common carrier
railroad, the Central Illinois Railroad Company (“CIRY”), and a contract intraplant switching company, Central
Railink Services, LLC (“Railink”). Railgroup was formed by
a consolidation of D.O.T. Rail Service, Inc., Heartland Track Works, Inc. and GEO Industries, Inc. Railink was formed by combination of D.O.T. Rail Service of Indiana, Inc. and Chicago Heights Switching
Company. The CIRY has been a common carrier railroad since 2000.
In mid-August
2006, the businesses and assets of the former companies were acquired by Central Illinois Railroad Holdings, LLC, a newly
created Illinois
limited liability company established for the purpose of acquiring these activities.
